Thai supporters of the Devon Vihara (monastery or temple) make a point of coming in coachloads to the little monastery deep in the devon countryside for the Kathina festival when they offer the cloth which the monks then spend the night sewing into a new robe for one of their members. This is a joyous and enthusiastic ceremony and comes as a bit of a shock to the quiet village of Harnham.
